Schools Tennis
School Link
The ‘Tennis Ireland Club School Link’ initiative forms an important part of the Tennis Ireland National Strategy. The purpose of the programme is to establish and strengthen the formal links between affiliated tennis clubs and their local schools. Stronger links between our clubs and schools are required to grow participation levels in our sport which will lead to better promotion and visibility of the game of tennis in Ireland.
The Club School Link Initiative will help our clubs and coaches establish and develop strong and formal links to local primary and secondary schools and to create a clear pathway from local schools to club tennis.

wellbeing in schools
Tennis Ireland is committed to making tennis an accessible, engaging, and valuable part of school life. That’s why we were thrilled to have our coach, Maria Petina, deliver two fun and interactive sessions for teachers, aligning with the Primary Curriculum Framework (NCCA, 2023) and its focus on Being Well.
The sessions introduced progressional lesson plans designed to be delivered safely in small spaces, making tennis more accessible than ever. Teachers explored activities that encourage responsibility, care for self and others, and, most importantly, maximum fun and participation for students of all abilities.
Beyond developing physical skills, tennis fosters a lifelong love for movement, helping students and teachers alike build connections within their school and wider community. With these tools in hand, teachers can now bring the joy of tennis into classrooms and playgrounds across Ireland!
