International Professional Tennis to be played again at Carrickmines
Ireland’s top tennis players will get the chance to compete against professional tour
players on home soil this Summer, when the Irish Open returns to Carrickmines.
It will be the Open’s first staging since Covid, and after a five year break this
professional tour event will run from Tuesday 6th August to Sunday 11th August.
Qualifying will be played on Sunday 4th and Monday 5th August.
Prize money of €15,000 each for the Men’s and Women’s tournaments will attract
both Irish and international players working their way up the world rankings.
Top Irish players will hope to emulate Peter Bothwell and Georgia Drummy’s
successes, when Bothwell won the Men’s Singles in 2018 and Drummy claimed the
Women’s title in 2019.
Speaking about the event, Kevin Quinn, CEO of Tennis Ireland said: “We’re
delighted to be bringing international professional tennis back to Ireland this
Summer. The crowds who turned out to watch our Davis Cup team play in Limerick
earlier this year show that Irish fans really enjoy live tennis and we are very grateful
to Carrickmines Lawn Tennis Club for teaming up with us to deliver this exciting
event.”
Entries for the Irish Open can be submitted from Monday 17th June.
