International Competitions
ITF Player Identification Number (IPIN):
All players entering ITF or Tennis Europe tournaments must register with the ITF and get an IPIN. Membership is valid for 12 months so make sure it is up to date before entering a tournament.
You must use the same name as in your Tennis Ireland profile (including spaces and ‘) so your details are linked to the WTN profile that has your Irish tournaments.
When you register for IPIN membership you will receive a unique IPIN, which will remain the same throughout your career playing in ITF or Tennis Europe tournaments.
The IPIN online service provides ITF calendar information, instant tournament entry and withdrawal, online payments, entry status and tournament schedules 24 hours a day and 365 days.

Davis Cup
The Davis Cup is the top annual men’s international team competition in tennis. Ireland first played in 1923 and has participated 92 years between then and 2023.
The best performance was in 1983 when the Irish team played in the World Group losing to the USA 3 –1, after John McEnroe won two singles points against Sean Sorensen and Matt Doyle and John McEnroe/Peter Flemming beat Sean Sorensen/Matt Doyle to win the third point. The Irish point came from a win in the second rubber: Matt Doyle vs Eliot Teltscher.

Billie Jean King Cup
The Billie Jean King Cup, previously known as the Federation Cup (1963-1995) or Fed Cup (1995-2020) was launched in 1963 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the International Tennis Federation (ITF). It has become the largest annual team competition in women’s sport. In 2022, 110 teams participated in the event.
Ireland played for first time in 1964 and has competed in the World Group several occasions. From then and until 2023, it has participated a total of 50 years. 2003 was the last time that an Irish team competed in Group I.
